Plant Description: Plant: Erect to sprawling, thorny shrub 0.5–1.5(–2.0) m high; stems deeply ridged.
Leaves: Green, sometimes densely grey-downy beneath; usually three-foliate, sometimes also five-foliate (lateral leaflets redivided) on new season's growth; terminal leaflet usually wedge-shaped at the base.
Flowers: White, rarely pink, petals much longer than sepals; few (2–5) at the ends of short, leafy shoots, September–January.
Fruit: Red turning black, fleshy, shiny, glomerules of one-seeded drupes. |

Control: herbicides, which are effective in autumn, and cultivation if the rhizome is removed |
