Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Xymalos monospora - (Siphisamakhata) Large tree; sexes on separate plants. Leaves opposite or slightly displaced, stalk c 1 cm long, blade oval or lance-shaped, tapering to both ends, margin either entire or sharply toothed, hairless, minute glands present, veins prominent below, up to 15 cm long x 8 cm wide. Flowers in short axillary inflorescences, small, perianth inconspicuous, 3—6-lobed; males with several stamens in dense clumps, filaments very short; females with single central carpel with one ovule, stigma stalkless, cushion-shaped. Fruit fleshy, oval to spherical, c 1 cm long, stigma persisting.
