Malolotja Nature Reserve - Climate

The average rainfall is 1150 mm per annum, most of the rain being received during the summer months. Thick mists are a common occurrence, sometimes even occurring in the winter months. Cloud cover is on average much higher during the summer months than through the winter. Temperatures vary considerably within the reserve, but figures are only available for the entrance gate area, where the daily mean temperatures vary from 18°C in summer to about 11°C in winter. There is usually a fairly high diurnal variation in temperature. The relative humidity is generally high (about 85%) in summer, and slightly lower in winter (about 65%), although this is quite variable. The monthly average wind speed at the entrance gate area usually varies between 5 and 15 km/h.
