Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Kyllinga melanosperma - More robust than other species, up to 1,2 m high. Leaves and basal bracts up to 4 mm wide. Inflorescence shortly cylindrical, greenish, c 1,5 cm long x 1 cm wide; spikelets very numerous; glumes tapering to sharp point.
