Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Salix woodii - (Umnyetane) Irregular shrub or small tree, usually less than 3 m high. Stems ridged, slightly downy. Leaf stalk 1�1,5 cm long, blade up to c 15 cm long x 2 cm wide, upper side hairless, lower closely white-felted, margins with numerous teeth pointing forwards, midrib conspicuous. Catkins axillary; males c 3 cm long, bracts woolly, each flower with several stamens bearing small yellow anthers; females much longer, bracts minute, ovary shortly stalked, c 3 mm long, pointed, splitting open and releasing numerous seeds c 1 mm long with long silky basal hairs.
