Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Aptenia cordifolia - Perennial; widely trailing over ground or rising among bushes. Hairless throughout. Stems elongated with distant pairs of somewhat fleshy leaves, forking at intervals, fork occupied by single stalked flower. Leaves short-stalked, blade broadest just above base, tapering to somewhat sharp point, up to 6 cm long X 2 cm wide. Flower-stalk c 1 cm long. Sepals four, unequal. Petals numerous, magenta, joined into short tube at base, from which spring stamens. Fruits four-chambered.
