Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Silene burchellii - Stems up to 45 cm high, usually unbranched above base, slender; leaves mainly in its lower half, usually c 4 cm long X 5 mm wide, tapering to both ends, often all twisted to one side. Upper part of stem with few distant pairs of small leaves, ending in spike of well-spaced flowers, usually all turned to one side. Calyx up to 2 cm long, lower half much narrower than upper when fruiting. Petals greenish white or mauve above, darker below, deeply notched; flowers opening in evening.
