Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Tephrosia polystachya - Somewhat shrubby; stems ridged, with abundant short spreading hairs. Leaves with short stalk, stipules very slender, leaflets up to nine pairs, variable in size, up to 3 cm long x 9 mm wide when luxuriant, with short sometimes recurved point. Inflorescences mostly terminating branches, usually with several half-erect leafless branchlets bearing few narrow pointed bracts and several irregularly scattered flowers; calyx c 6 mm long, lobes long-pointed, shaggy; corolla c 1 cm long, shades of pink, lake, mauve or magenta. Pod flat, straight or curved, hairy, c 5 cm long x 5 mm wide.
