Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Crossandra greenstockii - Herbaceous. Leaves mostly basal, sometimes numerous, oval, blunt, tapering to base, up to 14 cm long x 6 cm wide, moderately hairy. Inflorescence stalk often unbranched, up to 30 cm high, with one or two pairs of leaves, ending in dense spike up to 5 cm long x 2,5 cm diam, with numerous broad overlapping bracts, which bear long hairs and glands and have a spiny point; marginal spiny teeth may or may not be present. Corolla orange or yellow, sometimes pinkish, tube slender, downy, protruding a little beyond bracts, up to 2 cm long, end fan-like, with five broad rounded lobes, up to 3 cm across.
