Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Rhynchelytrum repens - (Red Top Grass, Umgwane) Conspicuous. Inflorescences rather loose, translucent and bright pink, this producing striking colour effect. Usually perennial. stem often bent downwards and rooting at lower nodes, erect part being usually 60—90 cm high. Leaves normally flat. Spikelets 4 mm long or less, their silky hairs much exceeding them, concealing very short awns.
