Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Eragrostis plana - Densely tufted tough hairless perennial, 1 m or more high. Leaf-sheaths broad, flattened laterally, often arranged fan-wise, pale green and shining; blades narrow, inrolled, wiry. Inflorescence up to 30 cm or more long, erect, narrow; spikelets up to 1 cm long x 2 mm wide, many-flowered, dark greyish-green.
