Description (Compton's Flora of Swaziland*):
Ascolepis capensis - Tufted perennial. Leaves arising from base only, very slender, about equalling stems, 30—90 cm high. Inflorescence almost spherical, 1,3 cm or less diam, consisting of few closely set spikelets with numerous narrow pointed white scales; bract single, narrow, leaf-like, up to 5 cm long, often turned downwards (with sometimes a second shorter one) below inflorescence.

Notes:
Global distribution information: southern Africa includes southern Mozambique and southern Zimbabwe.
