International Red Data Status: Least Concern 2017 IUCN Red List
Key Features: smooth shiny body scales, short legs, yellow (males) or blue (females) tail, and large size
Comments: Occurs throughout the country in the highveld, middleveld, lowveld and Lubombo regions. In the highveld this form is restricted to the lower regions in the larger, warmer valleys.
