      Fodder: Grazed by hippopotamus
Jatropha
   curcas *   
      Household: Oil used for candles and soap making. Poisonous.
      Medicinal: Oil is a purgative and toxic. Poisonous.
   hirsuta    (Hairy-leaved Jatropha)  godzide,  godzidze,
      Cultural: Protective charm against lightning.
      Medicinal: Roots used for fever & wounds. Medicinal for dogs.
          var. hirsuta
          var. oblongifolia
   variifolia    (Glossy-leaved Jatropha)  umsenge,
   zeyheri var. zeyheri     godida,
      Medicinal: Tuber for menstrual pain and to strengthen foetus
      Food: Leaves boiled for tea in Botswana.
Jasminum

      Household: Branches used to clean teeth
   multipartitum    (Starry Wild Jasmine)  ihlolenkosazane,  imfohlafohlane,  isandia senkosikazi,
      Household: Fragrant bath & pot-pourri.
      Medicinal: Medicinal emetic.
      Food: Herbal tea. Fruits eaten as a "famine food".

      Household: Sculpture, spoons & furniture.
Justicia
   betonica    (Paper Plume)  instelo yemehlo,
      Medicinal: Leaves used for conjunctivitis.
   campylostemon    (Honey Justicia)  isipheka,  ubomane,
   flava   
      Household: Perfumed beads made from roots
      Medicinal: To treat coughs.
   protracta subsp. protracta   
      Honey: Honey
