      Medicinal: Fruits, leaves & especially roots thought to be poisonous.

      Household: Ripe fruit has been used as a source of ink.
      Medicinal: Medicinal for snakebite, hest complaints & wounds. Poisonous.

      Honey: An excellent bee tree.
      Soil Conservation: Used to check soil erosion.
      Fodder: Fodder. Withstands much browsing.
      Medicinal: Dried leaves for snuff. Leaves stimulate milk production.
      Food: Edible leaves with pleasant acid flavour.
Portulaca
   oleracea *    (Purslane)  silele,
      Medicinal: Digestive disorders. Diuretic. Anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, anti-oxidant.
      Food: Edible leaves sometimes pickled. Edible shoots. Source of vitamin C.
   quadrifida    (Wild Purslane)  emahenjana,  emalenyane,  emayenjane,  emayenjani,  linyanjani,  liyenjane,  mahenjani,
      Food: Edible leaves
Pollichia
   campestris    (Waxberry)  ukudla kwamabhayi,  umhlungulu,
      Fodder: Browsed by stock & game
      Medicinal: Chest complaints & rheumatism
      Food: Edible fruit
Pittosporum
   viridiflorum    (Cheesewood)  mkhwakhwa,  sibhaha,  sibhaha-senkhangala,  umfusamvu,  umvusamvu,
      Cultural: Bark has magico properties.
      Medicinal: Bark for stomach. Dried bark in beer as an aphrodisiac. Roots and bark used for psychosis.
      Food: Edible fruit
Prunus
   africana    (Red Stinkwood)  umdumezulu,
      Timber: Timber for construction but has tendency to twist amd split.
      Household: Occasionally used for furniture but difficult to work.
      Medicinal: Bark extensively used for prostatic hypertrophy
   persica *    (Peach)  limpentjisi,  umpentjisi,  umpentjizsi,
      Medicinal: Bark and/or leaves for stomach aches & strengthen veins & nerves.
      Food: Edible fruit
