Common along streams and rivers, low to medium altitudes.

Uncommon, found in grasslands at medium and high altitudes.

Possibly found in Malolotja, collected by Professor Compton near Nkomati river.

Common in valleys at lower altitudes, e.g. middle Malolotja valley, occasionally found at higher altitudes in sheltered areas.

Occasionally found in valleys, at various altitudes.

Eriochrysis brachypogon (Stapf) Stapf

Fairly common in vieis of higher areas. Type specimen collected by Compton in the Forbes Reef area. Rare in southern Africa.

Occasionally found in vieis at higher altitudes.

Abundant in high altitude grassland.

Purple plumed grass
Common at low and medium altitudes.
