Ischaemum fasciculatum Brongn. (I. arcuatum (Nees) Stapf) Common along streams and rivers, low to medium altitudes.
Elionurus muticus (Spreng.) Kunth (Elyonurus argenteus Nees) Wire lemongrasssilky grasswire grass Uncommon, found in grasslands at medium and high altitudes.
Rottboellia cochinchinensis (Lour.) Clayton (R. exaltata L. f.) Possibly found in Malolotja, collected by Professor Compton near Nkomati river.
Imperata cylindrica Beauvis. Cottonwool grass Siswati: Umtenti Common in valleys at lower altitudes, e.g. middle Malolotja valley, occasionally found at higher altitudes in sheltered areas.
Miscanthus junceus (Stapf) Pilg. (Miscanthidium junceum Stapf) Occasionally found in valleys, at various altitudes.
Eriochrysis brachypogon (Stapf) Stapf Fairly common in vieis of higher areas. Type specimen collected by Compton in the Forbes Reef area. Rare in southern Africa.
Eriochrysis pallida Munro Occasionally found in vieis at higher altitudes.
Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench subsp. arundinaceum (Desv.) de Wet & Harlan (S. verticilliflorum (Steud.) Stapf) Possibly found in Malolotja, collected by Compton near Nkomati river.
Eulalia villosa (Thunb.) Nees Golden velvetgrass Abundant in high altitude grassland.
Bothriochloa bladhii (Retz.) S.T.Blake Purple plumed grass Common at low and medium altitudes.
