PROGRAMMES: Community Outreach

Community Outreach Programmes (COP - Malolotja and Mlawula)

The social dimension of biodiversity loss is occurring at an unprecedented rate most notably in the rural communities who are largely poverty stricken. The promotion of amicable relations with park neighbors coupled with fundamental empowerment on sustainable rural development through appropriate training is very important under this programme.

The harvesting of natural resources such as fauna and flora is viewed as a necessary imperative. In an attempt to address this great an anomaly is the coining out of this programme to promote the sustainable use of the above-mentioned natural resources. The trend with service is that it is becoming more relevant particularly in cases of problem animals that have to be timeously attended by the all programme areas (NEEP, COP, and Ecology) on a measure of providing sound technical social resolve mechanisms for the affected parties.

The promotion of community projects aligned with the Conservation mandate the organization is charged with, cannot be overemphasized in light of the limited resources with which to be of substantial relevant to the rural communities through participatory approaches.
