Swaziland National Trust Commission - Visitor Information

Opportunities include visits to the SNTC nature reserves, varying from the mountainous splendour of Malolotja Nature Reserve to the bushveld experience of Mlawula Nature Reserve.

Treetop Canopy Tours: Visitors can experience the thrill of gliding through the forest canopy within Malolotja Nature Reserve, the last mountain wilderness area in Swaziland. The canopy tour offers views of towering cliff faces and across the forest. Safety is paramount, and the system has been built to the highest civil engineering standards. Guides are trained professionals and this breath taking experience can be enjoyed by people of all ages.

Mlawula, Malolotja and Mantenga Nature Reserves all have a wide diversity of flora and fauna, as a result of their geology, topography and climate, Malolotja including highveld mountains and valleys, Mantenga a transition from highveld to middleveld, and Mlawula including lowveld and the Lubombo mountains.

A visit to Ngwenya Mine, in the southern end of Malolotja Nature Reserves can include viewing Lion Cavern, the world's oldest mine, the dramatic views of Ngwenya Iron Ore Mine, the more recent mining of iron ore, and an informative browse through the Visitor Centre.

Malolotja Nature Reserve is known for its wild flowers, including rare and unusual plants. A visit in springtime offers the opportunity to see the display of spring flowers. Mlawula's flora is similarly diverse, and of particular note are the Lebombo Ironwood forests, with the rare cycad, Encephalartos striatus.

The National Museum and the King Sobhuza II Park are situated in Lobamba, and offer opportunities to find out more about Swaziland's cultural heritage. Nearby, Mantenga Nature Reserve includes the Swazi Cultural Village, which features daily performances by their traditional dance troupe.
